The Lazio Olympic expedition flies to Tokyo 2020 dreaming of record gold and podiums. The regional representative is the second in Italy in this edition, after Lombardy: of the 384 blue athletes present at the Games, 41 are from Lazio. Leading the patrol is the swimming star Simona Quadarella, who in the 800 and 1500 freestyle aims for a sensational gold double. But behind Super Simo there are many dreaming. Starting with the cyclist Marta Bastianelli, world champion in Stuttgart 2007 and European champion in 2018, who at 34 wants to end her career with a great result. Eyes then focused on Laura Rogora, the great hope of climbing, a discipline that has just landed at the Games, as well as on Leonardo Fioravanti, the first Italian to participate in the Games in surfing.
Also ready to battle for gold are Odette Giuffrida, silver in Rio in judo in the 52 kg category, and Daniele Lupo, who paired with Paolo Nicolai was silver in beach volleyball in 2016. In rowing other arrows at the Lazio arc : Simone Venier in the team four and Matteo Lodo in the 4 without aiming for the podium, while in basketball there are Giampaolo Ricci and Giulia Rulli, engaged in the 3×3 tournament. Again, three Romans in Settebello who aspire to gold: Marco Del Lungo, Gianmarco Nicosia and Nicholas Presciutti. In diving, on the other hand, Chiara Pellacani, European gold from 3 meters with Elena Bertocchi in Glasgow, hopes to repeat herself. Podium hopes also for Alessio Foconi in foil and for Enrico Berré in the saber, as well as with Bianca Caruso and Elena Berta in sailing (class 470), Mattia Camboni in windsurfing and Martina Centofanti in rhythmic gymnastics, together with Elena Micheli in modern pentathlon.
