Staying at The Greenwich is entering one of the owner’s most interesting and intimate settings: Robert De Niro. Salvaged historical materials and artifacts that the New York legend of the film industry acquired during some of his personal travels, were integrated into each of the 88 rooms, with a daring design perspective that makes them unique.

To these significant details, they were (recently) incorporated custom-built king mattresses by Savoir, the luxury bedding company founded in 1905 by The Savoy Hotel owner Richard D’Oyly Carte. The partnership between the UK-based house and The Greenwich not only betrays a high level of comfort, but also points of convergence in the universe of know-how.

In an effort to keep the ideology with which it was born, Savoir manufactures less than 1,000 beds per year, using techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation, as well as natural fibers that help regulate body temperature.

Each mattress is made by hand (from start to finish) only by a highly trained craftsman that puts your signature on the label once you are satisfied with the result.

And it is that artisanal luxury in The Greenwich is more than a concept: it is a multicultural design philosophy that makes itself felt in all its spaces, from its facade to its entrails. The boutique hotel occupies a corner building, built with thousands of bricks that were handcrafted in Pennsylvania.

The terracotta and marble floors in the lobby are inspired by the floors found in a 14th century palazzo in Italy, and were produced by a family business of Italian artisanswhile the ceilings and hand-carved moldings in the rooms are reminiscent of Parisian living rooms. The cozy atmosphere of the suites has been enriched with floors made up of whimsical recovered chestnut beams.

No two rooms are the same. Some have bathrooms containing more than 13,000 moroccan mosaics that were placed one by one, and others have Carrara marble vanities that recall the ancient Tuscan knot pattern. An antique carpet or this in Tibetan it’s part of the unique charm that sets them apart, just like the custom English leather furniture.

Savoir mattresses are now one of those extraordinary pieces that The Greenwich rooms and suites possess, seeking to provide an authentic artisan sleep experience. This, in complicity with the company that, for more than a century, has been in charge of perfecting the art of sleep.

This is how the boutique hotel, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, confirms the reason for its prominence in the trendy TriBeCa neighborhood, the one in which De Niro has infused his particular vision of life and hospitality, and promoted film festivals with the same passion with which we have seen him embody his different characters.
