Tivoli 2021 – Villae Cantiere Cultura, the project carried out by the Musica per Roma Foundation with the Lazio Region, in collaboration with the MiC – Istituto Autonomo Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este will start on Friday 23 July 2021.

The initiative, which will take place until Sunday 25 July, is enriched this year by an important novelty: in addition to the shows that will alternate for three days on the exceptional stage set up in the Pecile area of ​​Villa Adriana, literary meetings at Villa d’Este are also scheduled. Three appointments in the Grand Avenue of the villa made in collaboration with the De Sanctis Foundation.

VILLA D’ESTE – On Friday 23 July, the writer Nadia Terranova will guide the public to discover the novel The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. A journey into an unconventional and desperate work, between seduction and conventions, between desire and defeat, to understand what remains of Wharton’s writing today and why we cannot ignore her. Saturday 24 will be the turn of Donatella Di Pietrantonio protagonist of the meeting on Marguerite Yourcenar and the Memoirs of Hadrian. In the end, Moderato Cantabile, the novel that marks the turning point in Marguerite Duras’s writing, will be at the center of the meeting with Rosella Postorino on Sunday 25 July. All appointments at Villa d’Este are at 7 pm.

VILLA ADRIANA – It will be Francesco Bianconi to inaugurate the billboard of Villa Adriana on 23 July. In the evocative ruins of the Emperor’s residence, the Baustelle frontman will present live the songs of his first solo project Forever. Accompanying him on stage an ensemble of six musicians.

Continue the following day with All about Eva, the world premiere show by and with Gigi De Rienzo dedicated to composers: scheduled pieces written by Italian and foreign artists, without time limits, arranged by the Neapolitan artist and played by the AuditoriumBand, the new ensemble that joins the resident orchestras of the Parco della Musica and debuts with this event. Special guests were the singer Maria Pia De Vito and the voice of Almamegretta Source. A rich and varied repertoire that ranges from Carmen Consoli to Joni Mitchell, from Gianna Nannini to Alanis Morrisette, from Teresa De Sio to Bjork.

The show Io di will close the festival on 25 July Antonio Rezza and Flavia Mastrella, Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement for the Theater 2018, an inimitable artistic combination in the contemporary theater scene. The one performer-author and the other artist-author have been treading the scenes since 1987. From this union, absolutely innovative shows were born from the point of view of theatrical language.
