.Taylor Lautner was almost recast for New Moon. Studio execs wanted to cast Michael Copon, and they prematurely stated that he’d play the “new Jacob.”
.In Breaking Dawn — Part 2, they originally planned for Renesmee to be played by an animatronic, but director Bill Condon thought it was creepy, so they just used CGI instead.
.New Moon director Chris Weitz instructed Kristen Stewart to put weights in her pockets to make her sink during the drowning scene, but Kristen wasn’t comfortable with that. In an effort to calm her nerves, Weitz tried it himself. After realizing how terrifying it was, he scrapped the idea.
.Breaking Dawn — Part 1 was originally rated R because Bella and Edward’s sex scene showed a lot of Rob’s butt.
.Nikki Reed wore a wig in the sequels because her hair started to fall out from the extreme bleaching she did for Twilight — it took 36 hours of bleaching to get her hair so light.
.Rob also had to wear a wig for Breaking Dawn — Part 2 reshoots because he shaved his head.
.Twilight author Stephenie Meyer had her own casting ideas in mind for Edward and Bella. For Edward, her choices were Henry Cavill, Logan Lerman, and Tom Sturridge. For Bella, her choices were Emily Browning, Elliot Page, and Danielle Panabaker.
.Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke had Kristen and Rob do their chemistry read at her home on her bed because she wanted to see their chemistry.
.To keep Bella’s wedding dress a secret from the public, Kristen had to wear a Volturi cape over the dress whenever filming had paused.
.Michael Sheen revealed that he actually didn’t know anything about Twilight before accepting the role of Aro. He did it because his daughter was a huge fan of the series.
.Taylor said that the hardest part about getting buff to play Jacob was the amount of food he had to eat while working out. He had to eat at least 4,000 calories a day and would often have his trainer bringing him snacks in between takes.
.For The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the director required actors auditioning for the wolf pack to bring documentation that proved their Native American heritage.

Jackson told MTV, “Kellan and I were going over our moves — we hadn’t had any time to rehearse — and we were out in mud, so it was really slick and everything. He punched too low, and I didn’t duck low enough. He caught me right in the temple, kind of knocked me for a loop. I didn’t fall, but I was kind of out of it for the next couple takes. My agent happened to be on set and was trying to talk to me apparently during the takes, and I wasn’t listening or I wasn’t really aware of what was happening. He was like, ‘I think Jackson’s kind of thrown for a loop. We should get him checked out.’ Apparently, I wasn’t speaking in full sentences, and I had a mild concussion. So they sent me to the hospital to get my brain checked out.”
.Bella slips and falls on ice in Twilight, but in real life, Kristen Stewart stuffed a butt pad into her jeans so she wouldn’t get hurt.
.During the paper cut scene in New Moon, Jackson Rathbone got so into character that Peter Facinelli and Kellan Lutz actually had to hold him back — even Kristen Stewart thought she was about to be attacked.
.In the movie, a majority of the cast wore colored contacts, including Kristen Stewart, who wore brown contacts so her eyes would match the description in the books.
.Robert Pattinson didn’t have a driver’s license before the franchise, so he had to learn how to drive before he started filming Twilight.
.Then, coincidentally, Edward had to drive a boat during Breaking Dawn — Part 1, and as they were filming, Robert accidentally crashed the boat in front of the entire crew.
.Originally, there was a scene in Eclipse where Bella envisioned herself as a chief’s wife from a Quileute folktale where she saves her village from a vampire by sacrificing herself — the scene got cut after viewers laughed at it.
.Another scene that never made it into Eclipse featured Bella and Jacob growing old together; however, they ended up cutting the scene because of “issues” with the prosthetics.
